Scottish Association of Vehicle Enthusiasts (SAVE)

Wheels Of Yesteryear 2020

Postponed, hopefully to a date in September.

The Scottish Association of Vehicle Enthusiasts caters for owners of vintage and classic vehicles of all kinds and also for those who are not owners but are appreciative of old and timeless means of transportation. We formed in 1970, and over the years our rallies, Wheels of Yesteryear , have taken place at Melville Castle, Prestongrange, Lauriston Castle, Dalmeny, Ingliston and Lennoxlove.

In recent years, rather than a static display, we have organised an annual road run between the Scottish Mining Museum at Newtongrange and Lennoxlove Estate , near Haddington. (See events page)

We have monthly club meetings at venues around Edinburgh, with guest speakers, quizzes etc, other occasional events, a BBQ in the summer and a Christmas dinner (small charge). There is an annual AGM when club members elect the Committee, and a bi-monthly newsletter.

Membership is £15 a year.

For details of our events this year keep checking here, but for information on Veteran, Vintage and Classic events throughout Scotland, or to find out about the SVVF Yearbook, check the SVVF website.

For £15 a year, club members get a regular news magazine, free entry to our annual event, monthly meetings with guest speakers, and other activities (and good craic), a barbeque in the summer and Xmas dinner in the Winter (for a very small cost). Not bad, eh? If you are interested in joining, download this pdf form and send it to the address on the form.

Wheels Of Yesteryear 2020

Postponed, hopefully to a date in September.

Vehicles departing from the Scottish Mining Museum from 10am

We cordially invite you to join us for our Road Run from the National Mining Museum Scotland, Newtongrange EH22 4QN, via Glenkinchie, to Lennoxlove House EH41 4NZ where vehicles will be on display by kind permission of His Grace the Duke of Hamilton.

The route details will be given out on the day, with different country routes for light vehicles and motor cycles, and another route more suited to the commercials.

Full catering will be available at the start, and coffee/tea will be available at Prestongrange Museum. Coffee/tea, filled rolls etc. will be available from the marquee on the lawn at Lennoxlove House. Permanent toilet facilities including disabled access toilets, are located at all venues. Judging will be done at Lennoxlove House, and the judges will fully take into account that vehicles have been driven on the run, with no marks deducted for this.

Please arrive at the National Mining Museum Scotland to register by 9:45am as vehicles will be departing from 10:30 am. If you need space for unloading a large vehicle, it would be useful for us to know in advance to arrange the area. Fuel is available at Tesco, 2 miles north, and Shell 1/2 mile to the South, both on the A7.

Please remember that we are organising this event at our own expense as we will not be able to charge the public for viewing, and we are dependent on the goodwill of these venues to be able to have a Run at all. Please do not contact the National Mining Museum Scotland, Prestongrange Museum, or Lennoxlove House directly about this event as they will not have information.

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR 2020: We expect a good range of vehicles on the day (especially as this is our 50th anniversary, but we have a cap on entry numbers and regrettably may need to decline some entries. The number of vehicles is limited by the capacity of the venues, so please only register for this run if you intend to turn up. We appreciate that circumstances can change, as long as you let us know in advance that you are no longer able to come this is not a problem.

Entries close on 19th June 2020. Numbers are subject to space, and late entries will not be accepted
